Why does StudentFirst exist?
The journey to move to a new country as a student is hard. It is riddled with obstacles from day 1. From the time they decide they want to study to the time they actually step into the classroom.
It is almost impossible to know if a student is making the right decision till it’s too late. The good institutes are gatekeepers and the ones that are open to everyone are often diploma/degree factories that provide little to no value. The student doesn’t realize this till it is too late, often ending up struggling to find a job that they were told they could get. Add to this the stress of starting life from scratch in a country where you don’t know anybody. An international student pays more but ends up making lesser money than a local.
This bothers me. It’s been almost 4 years since I graduated from business school in Canada and every time I think of it, I fume. Every time I talk to a new immigrant looking for a job, their struggle makes me angry.
Why does this happen? Information imbalance.
A potential student sitting in a different country doesn’t have the best resources to verify information about schools and programs and the future impact on their careers and lives.
This is why StudentFirst exists. To offer unbiased, accurate information about studying abroad. We help prospective students make the best decision for themselves. We will never make money from a student’s admission to a particular school/program, a model many services like us follow. Our incentive structures will always align with the student’s best interests. With time and scale, we will help prospective students not only decide on the right program but also help them get there. Our relationship will begin from the time they think they want to study abroad to the moment they end up in the classroom.
We’re going to be THE resource to go to.
Our promise is in our name. We are and always will be - StudentFirst
