In the second episode of "Stories with Shomik," I had the pleasure of hosting Naman Bajaj, founder of a NotMyProblem.Earth , a website that highlights companies and founders who are making genuine efforts to better the planet. The platform's ethos revolves around sharing stories of startups that would never have existed if the founders merely dismissed these global challenges as "someone else's problem."
Naman's journey from an MBA student to advocating for sustainable startups is a tale of passion, resilience, and purpose. Having experienced firsthand the challenges of finding a job in Canada during the pandemic, coupled with the bias against newcomers, Naman was determined to make a difference. His solution? Starting a podcast in mid-2020. This podcast, while serving as a medium for Canadian founders in the sustainability sector to market themselves, also became Naman's way of networking and potentially landing contractual roles.
But beyond his personal endeavors, the larger message from our conversation was the need for society to value global experiences. The bias against newcomers, particularly in the job market, is an issue we both feel strongly about. After all, in a world as diverse as ours, shouldn't global experience be considered invaluable?
The stories of people like Naman remind me why I started this podcast: to celebrate the unsung heroes among us, those who strive to make a difference, one small step at a time.
